2018 - 2019

On 20 May 2018, STVV appointed Marc Brys as its new head coach. He brought along his assistants Issame Charaï, Bart Van Lancker and Bram Verbist. STVV started the new season moderately with four draws in a row and one defeat. After this, the results went up. After a 10 out of 12, STVV was in the top six on match day 10. For the rest of the season, STVV continued to camp around this sixth spot. In the final run-up to the play-offs, STVV's engine started to sputtering, so on the last matchday of the regular competition it had to compete with KAA Gent for the last place in play-off 1. This match STVV lost 0-2. This meant a seventh place in the league and a condemnation to play-off 2.

In that play-off 2, STVV started strong. After four days of play, the Canaries were comfortably in the lead with ten out of twelve. After two draws and a lost match against Sporting Charleroi, STVV dropped to second place and lost its leading position. They remained there until the end of the play-offs.
In the Belgian Cup, the Canaries started with two home games against teams from the lower regions. In the quarterfinals, the cup campaign of the yellow-blue legion of Marc Brys came to an end. They lost in this round 1-3 to KAA Gent.
