The Kanaries lost the Limburg derby at Racing Genk by 4-0. Before half-time it was 3-0 and the game was over. After the break Onuachu deepened the score even further.
Sint-Truiden did not start off unpleasantly, but after a few minutes the home team put STVV on the defensive. After twenty minutes Bongonda kicked Genk into the lead on a pass from Ito.
The Kanaries had barely recovered from the opening goal when Heynen doubled the lead. Brüls then had a rare opportunity but missed his shot. STVV also saw captain De Ridder drop out with an injury, after which Thorstvedt soon made it 3-0.
Shortly before the break, the ball went on the spot after Cuesta pushed Mboyo in the back. Suzuki had a chance to put his team back in the game, but from eleven meter the ball hit the legs of goalkeeper Vandevoordt.
Eight minutes into the second half, Onuachu scored the 4-0. STVV was unable to make a fist of it after that either and so the final score in the Luminus Arena was 4-0.
