Lokeren Swipes the Promises from he Top 8
Despite a meritorious game, the Promises returned Monday from a 2-0 loss at Lokeren. On the eleventh match day, Sporting had a handsome team in store for our youngsters. Among others, Benchaib, Bia, Marzo, Michel, Straetman and Terki were led by Captain Monsecour.
With a low block, STVV was well organized and could even come out. Only in those attacking moments was there a lack of danger. The young Canaries intensively resisted the learned Lokeren where Wenssens saved the crew a few times in a 1-on-1 situation. Just before half time, the young goalkeeper was knocked at the corner: 1-0.
In the second half the youngsters could again play an active role with the home team. Especially Ian Opdenakker and Iebe Swers were strong in their shoes. Swers usually played his match and was rewarded with the captain band. In this respect, coach Van Kets would like to entrust the team leader throughout the season to several players with a view to their development.
On the counter ten minutes before time, the 2-0 was finally kicked in with conviction, which was missing from the Truien promises.
