Ex-Dortmund and Manchester United player, Shinji Kagawa, joins STVV!
It's now official. Shinji Kagawa is a Canary!
The 32-year-old japanese midfielder doesn't need any introduction, but we'll remind you of his CV.
He started his career at Cerezo Osaka (J. League) and was then signed by German powerhouse Borussia Dortmund. In 2 seasons at Dortmund, Kagawa scored 29 goals and dished out 17 assists in 71 games and was a key asset to their back-to-back titles of the Bundesliga. His prowesses earned him a spot at Manchester United where he played 57 games adding 6 goals and 7 assists to his counter. In the midst of the 14-15 season, he got transferred back to Borussia Dortmund where he once again proved to be a key player (he even played shortly with none other than Mory Konaté). He featured in 145 games for the Black and Yellows while computing 31 goals and 38 assists. Dortmund sent him on loan for half a season at Besiktas in Turkey where he scored 4 goals and gave 2 assists in only 14 games. In the season 2019-2020, Kagawa moved to Real Zaragoza for which he had the exact same numbers as in Besiktas but in 36 games. He then moved to PAOK in the first division of Greece. At PAOK, Shinji struggled to find some playing time and resigned his contract in December.
We are thrilled to have such a world-class player in our team.
With his magic skills and his experience at the highest level, Kagawa will bring creativity and composure in our Yellow and Blue midfield.
