STVV is facing a historic season, as this year the club celebrates its 100th anniversary. Ahead of this, the Canaries are taking an important step: none other than Thorsten Fink will become the new head coach. "Fink is a very experienced coach who wants to roll up his sleeves and has a real winner's mentality. That is why he is the ideal candidate to lead STVV in this anniversary season."

While the Belgian league is on its last legs, STVV is already preparing for the new season. In appointing the new coach, the board once again went for "Deutsche Qualität". Thorsten Fink, a former Champions League winner with Bayern Munich, brings a wealth of experience and a strong work ethic to the Tiensesteenweg. 2 times champion and cup winner with FC Basel, cup and Super Cup winner with Vissel Kobe, Fink achieved successes as a coach in several countries.

Now, the German is ready for his next challenge in the Jupiler Pro League: "I am thrilled to join STVV and be part of a club with such a rich history and passionate fans. The fact that we are on the eve of our 100th season makes it extra special. Together with the staff and the players, we will do everything we can to make it a memorable year," said the brand new coach of the Canaries. Fink brings along his trusted assistant Sebastian Hahn, with whom he has formed a tandem for eight years.

"Fink fits the DNA of STVV"

The decision to appoint Thorsten Fink as head coach of STVV was well-considered. Fink's experience and track record make him the preferred candidate. "Fink is a trainer who fits the DNA of our club. He is a strong leader who is able to build and mold a team. Moreover, Thorsten boasts extensive experience and is able to construct a clear style of play. Finally, because we have a lot of up-and-coming young talents in our core, it was also important to find a coach who has proven in the past that he can develop players," explained CEO Takayuki Tateishi.

Ready for 100 years STVV

Fink knows how to keep a group together and his time at Vissel Kobe will no doubt help in communicating with the international players. Takayuki Tateishi is pleased with Fink's arrival: "Every season is important. But this season is even more important than usual for our loyal supporters. We are confident that with Thorsten Fink, we will have a strong anniversary year. Together with the coach, we are now going to work very hard to put together a competitive team. We are going to make it a season that everyone with a yellow-and-blue heart wants to experience from the front row."
